SpeakerQuestion: Avoiding information overload

By August 19, 2014March 30th, 2020SpeakerQuestions

What if less is not enough?

The phrase “less is more” is a reminder that when crafting your message be sure to distinguish the “must-know” from “nice to know”.  A speaker who is an expert on a particular topic can feel compelled to share all of their expertise and may struggle with distilling the information to what is absolutely essential for the listeners to know and understand.

TIP: Be ruthless, constantly asking yourself “what does my audience absolutely need to know in order to take action?” And remember, a listener can always ask for additional detail.
