My friend Mary invited me to a dance exhibition at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Durham, NC. The performances included dance professionals as well as students.
Watching one couple in particular I was reminded that no matter what happens . . . the show must go on! This couple was providing a stunning performance when suddenly the music stopped. Had the performance ended? Was there a technical problem? Was the music going to start-up again? All eyes were on Kostantin and Rita.
The couple was flawlessly completing their Bolero as if nothing had happened. They received a standing ovation!
When you step up to speak, anything can happen. It is up to you to project a confidence that lets your audience know you have everything “under control”. If you feel awkward or ill at ease, your audience will, too. If you keep a bold face and forge ahead, they’ll follow along.
The lesson, remember to keep on dancing!
No, but enjoying watching others.
Are you taking dance lessons?:) cl
